Self Help - The Wisdom Of Peace

Peace seems like a good idea, sure. But with the worries and struggles we feel in life, with the problems that surround us in the news, and with the effort needed to get or stay ahead, peace seems like something we almost never feel.

Yet for all these reasons peace can be such a valuable addition to our daily experience. Just a dash of peace a day can reduce stress and anxiety in our lives. It can really make a big difference in helping us to relax and enjoy the flow of life.

Here are some powerful words of wisdom. Learn to give yourself peace. Give it to yourself rather than hope for it or wait for the stars to align and for all the circumstances of your life to be just right. Give yourself peace on purpose.

Giving yourself peace in this world is a powerful thing.  It can make all the difference in the quality of your life.  There are actually several ways to give yourself more peace. Here we'll outline just one simple method. It will take just three minutes or so a day. Will you give yourself three minutes a day to start flooding your life with more peace?

Here is a simple peace practice. It is called peacefully remaining or generous spaciousness. You sit alone and quiet for at least three minutes and peacefully remain with whatever shows up in your awareness. You can have your eyes open or closed. You can do this in your car before you go in to work, at lunch, or whenever.

Whatever thoughts you are having, you allow them. You don't try to change them or make them different. Whatever emotions you are having, you allow them. You peacefully remain with them. You don't try to have different feelings. For at least three minutes, you practice giving your consciousness some generous spaciousness. Whatever arises you allow it to be there without struggle or effort.

As a general rule, we human beings are unconsciously at war with what is. We are usually trying to resist or change our experience. We struggle with our thoughts and emotions, trying to have good ones and get rid of bad ones. For 3 minutes, you simply practice allowing things to be the way they are. You just breathe and notice and let things be okay just as they arise in your.

Giving peace to yourself in this way can change your world. Just a few minutes a day of peacefully remaining can begin to change your life. If you want to change the world and have it be more peaceful, start with yourself.

Wisdom and Self Help Reflections:

Set aside three minutes for the peacefully remaining exercise.

Try it.  See how it feels to just open up to and allow your experience for three whole minutes.

Wisdom isn't about taking action or not, it's about knowing when to do either.   Running around doing lots of things may or may not be wise.  Keeping busy can keep you from doing what is most important.  It can keep you from inner peace and harmony, which is not wise.  On the other hand, sitting around thinking empowering thoughts without taking any action is also unwise.

And running around looking for the answers to life can mislead you.  The ego wants to believe there is an answer out there that will solve everything, but it isn't true.  Peace is part of the answer, not the whole thing, but a very worthwhile part to focus on.  Check out the links below for more:
